Thank you everyone.  Bill this information is great and I really appreciate it.  I am very happy with AMG and they are very good people to deal with.   I've seen the other brands and have always wondered if there really is a big difference in performance.  I'm looking forward to reviewing this information. Thanks again and Happy Easter to all. On Thu, Apr 21, 2011 at 9:46 PM, Bill Brodhead wrote:
Michael & TimI had the same questions about radon fans many years ago and published a paper in 1997 AARST conference
http://www.aarst.org/proceedings/1997/1997_17_Radon_Fan_Performance--A_Uniform_Set_of_Empirical.pdf
Since that time I have continued to bench test almost every radon fan that is available using almost identical setup that has 10 feet of either 4" or 6" piping connected to the fan.  The fan is subjected to Increasing resistance and the airflow and pressure and fan wattage is then recorded.  Each fan's performance is then graphed and some of the graphs have direct comparison of similar fans so they can be compared.  The manufactures published data is also compared to the actual performance.  Unfortunately I cannot always keep up with changes made to the fans or changes in the published fans performance so some of the charts maybe outdated.  This happened last year when the RP145 fan motor changed and I just happened to use it for another test and realized the performance was not the same.  each chart has the fans manufactured date on it.  For now I think you will find this the best online location to compare fan performance.
I have also measured the effect of altitude on fan performance and also tested if an elbow directly below a fans intake and found no significant greater loss than farther away from the elbow although this was a difficult measurement to make..
The web site location is http://www.wpb-radon.com/radon_fan_performance.html
As for changes in pipe size and elbows these are typically figured in equivalent footage of straight pipe of the same size.  There is a chart on this page that lists the pressure drop for different elbows.  All of these measurements are based on actual measurements.

Hello all,I've currently been using Festa fans but have always been curious about Fantech and Radonaway.  Is there any one fan that out performs the others?  I look forward to your feedback.
