SAVE THE DATE for the National Radon Action Month Webinar: October 21, 2008!
Dear Radon Partners,
Please join us from 1:00 - 2:30 PM (EDT) on Tuesday, October 21, 2008, for the National Radon Action Month Webinar titled, “State Radon Program Innovative Approaches,” hosted by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
EPA supports the radon community in sharing best practices for reaching new audiences and improving radon outreach techniques to increase the number of homes tested and ultimately save lives from radon-induced lung cancer. Together, under the Radon Leaders Saving Lives Campaign, we can reach the goal to double the number of lives saved from radon exposure over five years.
For this year’s National Radon Action Month Webinar, we will feature speakers from states that used innovative approaches to achieve measurable results from their activities and events in January 2008. You will hear directly from the states regarding the key steps they followed for a specific activity or event. Also, you will have an opportunity to pose questions and begin a dialogue that can be continued after the Webinar. The featured states’ methods may provide you with ideas for your radon activities and events in 2009.
Speakers:
Carol Bell of the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services will present “Ordering (Free) Radon Test Kits Online from the State Radon Program,”
John Hultquist of the Utah Division of Radiation Control will present “Piloting New Methods to Reach Employees,”
Kathy Glapa of the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation will present “Partnering with Electric Utility Cooperatives,” and
Nikolas Webster of the New York State’s Bureau of Environmental Radiation Protection will present “Reaching Out to Physicians and Pediatricians”
