Nov. 5: Meeting of 16 cooperating public health agencies serving as Wisconsin regional Radon Information Centers, to coordinate activities in general and the Radon Action Month media blitz in particular. Discussion of principles for, and examples of, successful news releases in the past.Dec.: Radon Information Centers meet with cooperating agencies in their multi-county regions, to plan for R. A. M. news releases.
Dec. – Feb.: News releases by 48 cooperating local public health agencies across the state; and when contacted by news media (TV, radio, newspapers) interviews with health officials, homeowners having tested and mitigated, mitigators, and (occasionally) persons who have lung cancer.
Dec.-March and beyond: Radon news stories appear in broadcast and print media, to say nothing of internet media.
From R. A. Month 2011 outreach, as of the end of January, we know of 10 TV, 1 radio and 9 newspaper stories across Wisconsin, with more to be discovered, as in past years, when the cooperating agencies report to us.
