National Radon Poster Contest

The Eastern Shawnee Tribe Environmental Department worked with local Tribal children and School children to participate in the National Radon Poster Contest. This was joint effort with the Quapaw Tribe, Seneca Cayuga Tribe, and Wyandotte Tribe all in northeast Oklahoma. We held three joint meetings to plan outreach events. Jointly we presented four workshops through the summer months promoting the contest. We collected 178 posters with 25 from tribal children. A local contest was held where the posters were judged and prizes were awarded. All non-tribal posters were sent to the state contest and tribal posters were sent to the National Contest. The Eastern Shawnee Tribal Environmental Director and Radon Specialist participated in judging of the 10 National Finalists.
