Patricia W. Smith, Alabama State Radon Coordinator attended and participated in the city council meeting in Athens, Alabama (Limestone County). Received proclamation from Mayor Wiiliam R. Marks decalring January 2011 as National Radon Action Month. Ms. Smith gave a brief presentation about radon and its health risks to the council members and citizens attending the meeting. Radon bags were given to each council member, city attorney,city clerk and chief of Athens police. Citzens were informed as to where and go and purchase the radon test kits for $5.00 to test their homes for radon.
