NEHA RRNC TRAINING (Washington, DC)

NYS DOH Radon Section Staff participated in a National Environmental Health Association Radon Resistant New Construction (RRNC) class. RRNC is a priority area for the US Environmental Protection Agency State Indoor Radon Grant. As partnerships were encouraged for the training, a representative from the NY State Division of Code Enforcement and Administration also attended. The training covered health effects of radon, techniques for RRNC and local RRNC codes. The longer term goal/intended outcome for attending the training is to justify adoption of Appendix F of the International Residential Building Code, or equivalent document, for New York State (targeting high radon risk areas). Although the training was conducted in Washington, DC; follow up work/activity will be conducted in Troy/Albany, NY.
