Radon Action Month

BOGO Event - Buy One Get One Free. A flier was developed discussing the basics of radon and BOGO radon test kit special. Fliers were posted in various public areas such as HyVees, Libraries, Linn County Buildings, banks, the ISU extension office, True North, Habitat for Humanity, the YMCA, the new Human Services Building, etc. Information and signs about radon we're posted in the entryway to office. Anyone receiving the BOGO deal had to pick up the kits in our office where a poster display highlighting radon was used. EPA supplied material was given away including pencils and notepads. A informational piece was written and posted on the news section of LCPH's website. Short blurbs about radon were also included on Eastern Iowa Health. On KCRG morning news show, radon was the highlighted MUG Shot promoting radon testing and the BOGO Event. A meeting was also set up with the newspaper, an article was published on radon in eastern Iowa. After the article was released, test kit sales increased. 255 short-term test kits were given away. The buy one get one free program helped distribute over 500 short term test kits in our community. Radon outreach material was posted on local websites as well as facebook pages. EPA's Seasons Greeting was also used and this was forwarded to members in the community including coalitions. Information about radon was sent out to the local physician/office manager network which is distributed to over 1000 individuals at the end of December.
