Event Description
A press release was sent out to all media contacts detailing the promotion by Linn County Public Health for radon action month. A total of 110 short term test kits were available for Linn County residents to test their homes for radon. This release was also posted in the Linn County e-newsletter, Public Health e-newsletters, Marion electronic newletter, and Linn County Public Health Facebook.
Healthy Homes Branch Supervisor, Ruby Perin, conducted an interview with a local news station on radon testing in which she demonstrated the use of the short term test kit. She also talked about the health effects of radon exposure as well as Iowa's ranking according to EPA as an area likely to have average radon readings exceeding the EPA's action level of 4.0 pCi/L.
