Radon Grant Activities in Iowa

The Grant activities included giving free kits to test the schools, day care centers, adult care facilities, and college dorms in Winnebago County, Iowa. Free kits were also given to the public. 180 free kits were given out and the results tracked. The schools and college dorms tested under the 4pCi/L levels, but the other results were as expected with a large number of results above the action levels. Emails and information meetings were held to help the public interpenetrate the results along with contact information with local mitigators. A local bank started a two year loan program for radon mitigation. They advertised the loan program along with radon information. I worked with 3M manufacturing on a radon project and they gave out 70 free kits to their employees. I have given out about 450 kits including the 180 and 70 free kits. Workplace space was also tested and the building I work in was tested high so a mitigator has been contacted to mitigate the building.
