September 21, 2009 - Bill Long

Dear all,

I wanted to let update you on an upcoming grant transfer. The cooperative agreement between EPA and the National Safety Council (NSC) will transfer to the Midwest Universities Radon Consortium – Kansas State University (KSU) effective September 26, 2009. Our goal for the transfer is uninterrupted service to the public as concerns the National Radon Poster Contest, radon hotlines and radon test kit coupons. NSC notified EPA of their decision to discontinue its work on radon, after having reassessed their organizational structure deciding to return to their core mission of safety with less emphasis on health. NSC has been a strong radon partner for many years and we will miss them, especially Kristin Lolmaugh’s leadership as illustrated by the re-energized National Radon Poster Contest. While we are sorry to see the NSC go, we are excited about the new partner, KSU. Under Bruce Snead’s leadership, KSU is ready to step in and pick up where NSC leaves off. Learn details about KSU-provided national radon program services by reading Bruce’s blog here on RadonLeaders.org or visiting KSU’s Web site, www.sosradon.org (goes live September 26).

Please be sure to include any comments or questions below.

Best,
Bill
