AARST’s 20th International Radon Symposium will provide an opportunity to share ideas and to facilitate a worldwide exchange of information regarding radon in air, water and soils. AARST welcomes the participation of members of the scientific and medical community, radon testers, diagnosticians, mitigators, educators, public policy leaders and business leaders as well as consumers, both nationally and internationally.
Abstracts Your abstract should convey in 150 words or less the essence of the intended paper, clearly indicating the contribution it will make. Abstracts will be screened by the Symposium Program Committee.
Original research, including policy and business-related papers, are especially encouraged in the following areas:
- Cost-effectiveness of radon policy and program options
- Radon risk assessment including
-Radon measurement techniques and protocols
- Radon devices
- International radon studies and/or studies done in countries outside the US
-Residential case-control studies
-Other epidemiological studies
-Emanation from building materials
-Updates on risk or “action level” recommendations (both nationally and internationally)
- Radon risk communication
- Radon risk reduction in low income communities
- Radon prevention in existing and new construction
-Mitigation techniques used internationally
-Effectiveness of current mitigation techniques
How to Submit Abstracts: Please submit your abstract via email using WORD (.doc) format to: JBurkhart@aarst.org by May 17, 2010.
Acceptance of Abstracts: The Program or Conference Chair will notify authors of acceptance or rejection of their abstract by June 18, 2010. Acceptance of an abstract is a necessary condition for giving a paper or a poster session in the symposium.
Authors of accepted abstracts must submit a completed full paper by July 31, 2009. Papers will be separately refereed for possible inclusion in the 2009 Symposium Proceedings. Authors will receive grammar and syntax rules for papers along with their abstract acceptance email. Authors are solely responsible for obtaining all necessary permissions for published material.
Speakers must register for the Symposium and pay registration fees. Limited stipends are available and must be applied for through the Conference Chair.
Presentation Details: Along with an abstract, each author should submit a request for time: 20 or 40 minutes. The Program Chair will determine the amount of time allotted based on the number of presenters and topics being presented. Ideally, each presentation will allow time for a brief question and answer period at the end of the presentation.
