As many of the list members may be aware, the Health Physics Society recently updated their radon position statement. Several members of the list assisted with the development of the new position statement including Jim Burkhart, University of Colorado; Kevin Stewart, American Lung Association; Dan Strom, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory; Phil Jenkins, Bowser-Morner; and Dan Steck, St. John’s University, Minnesota. The Newsletter contains an article by Mary Walchuk entitled, “Speaking Up about Radon”.
I encourage list members with an interest in Health Physics or the health physics-related aspects of radon to consider joining the Health Physics Society. As compared to other professional organizations, I believe the membership expense is very reasonable considering membership includes receiving several monthly radiation-related publications including the journal and newsletter. I do not have an accurate count, but a high percentage of the radon-related publications have appeared in the Health Physics Journal.
