The AARST Consortium on National Radon Standards is getting ready to reconvene the Radon Measurement in Homes (MAH) workgroup in early September and there are a couple committee positions available.

The workgroup completed a previous version of the standard, but was completed prior to Consortium's ANSI approval as an accredited American National Standards Developer. The Standard is being upgraded as well as being promulgated according to the consensus procedure approved by the American National Standards Institute. In order to be recognized as an ANSI standard, the committee has to revise the earlier version through the full committee process and public comment periods. The earlier version of the MAH is being used as the starting point for this round of committee work and will be distributed to committee members within the next few days.

The vacant workgroup positions are:

1) Radon Mitigation Professional - Primary voter
2) Radon Mitigation Professional - Alternate voter

3) Real Estate Professional* - Primary voter
4) Real Estate Professional* - Alternate voter

* The Real Estate position can be filled either by individuals who are primarily Real Estate Agents, or a radon professional who also maintains a Real Estate license.

The working committee typically meets via conference call once per month for 1-2 hours, so the time commitment is minimal and travel is not required. Participation is open to anyone that is willing to share their time, experience, and thoughts with the committee. Membership in AARST is not required for participation.

If you are interested in serving on the committee or know someone that may be interested, please send an email to shawn@radon.com with your name, the position that you are seeking, and your complete contact information. Thank you in advance for your consideration.
