NEHA-NRPP Announces
Adoption of Consensus-Based Standards
Earlier this year, the NEHA National Radon Proficiency Program Policy Advisory Board (PAB) made a recommendation to the NEHA Board of Directors that the NEHA-NRPP should begin to recognize new standards, which would replace the EPA protocols that are currently being used. The 4 standards are: AARST Protocols for Radon Measurement in Homes, AARST/ANSI Protocols for Conducting Radon and Radon Decay Product Measurements in Multifamily Buildings, the AARST Active Soil Depressurization Radon Mitigation Standards (ASD-RMS), and ASTM E2121-06, which is also a mitigation guidance for single family homes.
The NEHA Board carefull considered the recommendation and concurred with the PAB. The NEHA-NRPP will begin recognizing these standards October 15, 2012. This is to allow trainers and certified individuals time to become familiar with the standards.
If you have questions regarding the new standards, please feel free to contact the NEHA-NRPP Administrative Office or any member of the Policy Advisory Board.
