A webinar regarding the data operations for the Radiation and Indoor Environments National Laboratory (R&IENL) in Nevada was held on July 18. The slides are posted here. Highlights of the call included the reopening of the lab which had been closed since August 2011 to improve the lab's quality system and assure compliance with EPA data management requirements.
Also announced on the call, the National reference lab functions are still covered in the FY 13 Presidential budget but the radon EJ canister program is eliminated. It is also announced the radon chamber responsibilities will be relocated to the EPA Radiation Lab in Montgomery, Alabama in 2015. The transition will be seamless with both Las Vegas and Montgomery chambers running simultaneously for an initial period to allow the two chambers to cross calibrate.
