In conjunction with the EPA’s National Radon Poster competition, Connecticut’s Department of Public Health Radon Program also holds a contest at the same time for students in the state. The top 12 entries selected are used to create a calendar that is given to students who submit entries. This promotional event encourages students to be aware of the risks of elevated radon levels in the home. Increased awareness amongst students can lead parents to test their homes. Ideally, awareness campaigns such as the EPA and state poster contests will also encourage students to test for radon when they eventually become home owners themselves.
