In 2013 and following up in 2014, the Connecticut Department of Public Health Radon Program tested all classrooms in Department of Corrections facilities. In total, 18 corrections facilities were tested and in one, high levels of radon were found. Based on those findings, other occupied areas of that facility were tested. Having identified problem areas, mitigation was performed to protect the health of the staff and inmate populations of that facility.
