SAVE THE DATE – MARCH 8, 2016
The Tenth Annual Region 7 EPA/State Radon Stakeholders’ Meeting will be held Tuesday, March 8, 2016 in Nebraska City, Nebraska at the Lied Lodge and Convention Center. This meeting is being held at no cost for all those that have a stake in protecting the public from unnecessary exposure to radon in their homes, schools and businesses. It is the intent of EPA Region 7 and its partners; the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, the Iowa Department of Public Health, the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, and the Heartland Chapter of AARST (the American Association of Radon Scientists and Technologists) is to bring interested stakeholders together to discuss common issues, provide insight into the future, understand the issues from other perspectives, share, educate and network. We hope to see you in Nebraska City on Tuesday, March 8, 2016. This meeting will qualify for continuing education credit in NRPP, NRSB, Iowa, Kansas and Nebraska. In addition, other CEU courses will be held on March 7 in association with the Stakeholders’ Meeting. More registration information will be provided in early January.
For people in Region 7 - Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska; the Heartland Chapter would like feedback on what training you would like to have available on March 7 before the Stakeholders’ Meeting. The Chapter hopes to start with RRNC training for mitigation but wants to know what additional training is wanted. Please send any ideas to Gary Boesker at boesinsp@hometelco.net.
In addition, Gary is working on a “spot the not” session for the Stakeholders’ Meeting and would like pictures from Region 7 that shows problem installations, basements that should or should not be tested, and good installations. The pictures should be sent to Gary at boesinsp@hometelco.net and Bruce Snead at bsnead@ksu.edu. If possible please include a description to go with the picture, pointing out defects or points of interest.
Finally, for those of you going to the National Radon Meeting in Minnesota, Gary invites you to attend a meeting of the AARST Heartland Chapter at 5:00 pm on September 22. The primary subject of the meeting will be to discuss the training to be held on March 7 before the Region 7 Radon Stakeholders’ Meeting.
