At its 25th National Radon Training Conference held in September 2015, the Conference of Radiation Control Program Directors (CRCPD) announced the award recipient for the 2015 Radon Hero Award.
The award stated:
Larainne Koehler, of EPA Region 2 in New York, is recognized for her leadership and dedication to increasing radon awareness and radon testing and mitigation rates in the states of New Jersey and New York. Her guidance and expertise have helped shape the New Jersey and New York radon programs and contributed extensively to their success. Larainne has become an expert in risk communications and how to get an apathetic public to test for a colorless, odorless, radioactive gas. For her accomplishments in radon risk reduction, her unwavering commitment demonstrated by her years of sustained exemplary leadership, and her consistently helpful and supportive guidance for state radon programs and the radon industry. Larainne Koehler is recognized as our 2015 Radon Hero.
