At the 25th National Radon Training Conference held in September 2016, the Conference of Radiation Control Directors (CRCPD) named the 2016 Radon Hero Award Recipient with the following tribute:
Angela Tin is recognized for her leadership and dedication to reducing radon exposure over the last ten years. She has aided in the development of a countless number of successful radon initiatives throughout the Upper Midwest region leading to state radon legislation, test kit distribution, mitigation system installation, and an increase in education and awareness for all ages.
Angela Tin garnered various resources to develop a strong radon program for the American Lung Association in Illinois. To properly educate the public and professionals, Ms. Tin became a licensed in Illinois as a Mitigation Professional and Measurement Professional. She continues to remain on the forefront of radon training and education to ensure the validity of the information the American Lung Association of the Upper Midwest provides to those served by it various programs and initiatives. Her work has led to innovative partnerships and expansion of educational opportunities; strategy for developing and supporting key Illinois legislation; and generating new and creative messages for the medical community.
For her accomplishments in radon risk reduction, her unwavering commitment demonstrated by her years of sustained exemplary leadership, and her consistently helpful and supportive guidance for state radon programs and the radon industry. Angela Tin is recognized as our 2016 Radon Hero.
