Utah's Public Health Data Resource, the Public Health Indicator Based Information System (IBIS) includes information on radon. Data were provided by the Utah Department of Environmental Quality, Division of Radiation Control.

Mapping shows percentage of radon tests in excess of the USEPA recommended action level of 4 pCi/L by county. A bar chart by county shows 1990-2014 test results and an accompanying table is provided. Beaver County had a high percentage of homes tested (74%) with results greater than 4 pCi/L. A full report on a behavorial risk survey about radon and its findings is given at http://ibis.health.utah.gov/ibisph-view/indicator/complete_profile/Radon.html. The risk study has questions regarding respondents whose homes were test, had high results or were not tested at all. The data source for the full report is Utah Data: Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System, Office of Public Health Assessment, Utah Department of Health.

Through the behavioral study, data presentation and outreach, the Utah Department of Environmental Quality Radon Program wants to encourage testing for radon. Additional outreach methods include:

* media releases;

* quarterly newsletters;

* public information sessions;

* Real Estate Continuing Education programs; and

* public presentations on "How to Protect Yourself and Family from Radon" and "Radon Resistant New Construction."
