In this outreach to the medical community and with the input of numerous medical professionals, the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services highlights radon as the second leading cause of lung cancer in the nation, something the Department highlights as a target for reduction and elimination of excess exposures.
In the Section, “Environmental/Radon,” the plan notes:
“Environmental public health officials work with individuals, communities, government agencies and industries throughout the state to reduce or eliminate exposure to substances that could be harmful to human health.” Radon is included in those substances.
