The Nevada Radon Education Program in conjunction with the Reno/Sparks Association of Realtors supported the effort to educate the public about radon with a one-hour virtual training course, “Radon – What Real Estate Professionals Need to Know” on August 5, 2020. The course was approved by the Nevada Real Estate Division for one hour of CEU.
The course covered:
· What is Radon
· What to Address when Buying and Selling Homes
· Where to Go for Answers
· How Radon Levels are Lowered
One in four homes in Nevada tested have had elevated radon levels. The Nevada Radon Education Program also addresses radon in real estate through its website “Radon Information for the Read Estate Professional” https://extension.unr.edu/radon/pub.aspx?PubID=2752
Past Nevada radon surveys and the geology of the state, having naturally occurring uranium, indicate 10 percent of the homes in Nevada have the potential of being above the U.S. EPA recommended action level of 4 pCi/l.
