“Resource: Radon in Massachusetts,” published in May 2020, provides information about radon to the public from the Indoor Air Quality Program, through a grant from the State Indoor Radon Grant program of USEPA. The Program provides advise on testing the mitigation to homeowners, mitigators and building owners.

According to the Program, an estimated 628 radon-related lung cancers per year occur in Massachusetts, approximately 650,000 homes have radon levels in excess of the 4 pCi/L recommended action level, and 34,000 homes have levels in excess of 20 pCi/L. The Program offers outreach and education to address the health risks of radon in Massachusetts.

A set of act sheets is transcribed from English into four other languages:

· Spanish

· Portuguese

· Simplified Chinese

· Vietnamese

The Program answers questions, such as:

What is radon and why is it dangerous? Where is radon a problem? How do I test my home? What do my test results mean? What should I do if I am renting a home? What should I do if I am buying a home? What if radon in my home is above the action level? What are some ways to protect my and my family from radon?

The Program also explains testing and mitigation for homeowners. Information on radon in schools and advice to health care providers are also provided.
