Oregon Radon Awareness Program Updated Indoor Radon Test Results Summary

Oregon Health Authority, in a table updated for 2020, provides test results that test kit manufacturers provided voluntarily. The table includes a column designating assigned risk of high, low and moderate to each zip code area. The table gives total tested, maximum and minimum results and the percent of tests that were in excess of 4 pCi/l, the recommended action level. The table notes that free test kits are available for residents in zip codes with asterisks or with "No Data Available" in an attempt to gather more information to assess the risk in all areas of the state.

See the table at https://www.oregon.gov/oha/PH/HEALTHYENVIRONMENTS/HEALTHYNEIGHBORHOODS/RADONGAS/Documents/Oregon%20…

The methodology of the risk assignment is explained as follows:

“Methodology The risk level (i.e. Low, Moderate, High) for elevated indoor radon within each zip code was determined through a classification system that considers three factors: the maximum observed test result value, the average test result value, and the percent of locations with a test result that was greater than or equal to 4 picocuries per liter (piC/L) within the zip code. Points are given for each factor and a total of those points is used to determine the overall risk score for the zip code.” For further explanation, see https://www.oregon.gov/oha/PH/HEALTHYENVIRONMENTS/HEALTHYNEIGHBORHOODS/RADONGAS/Documents/Radon%20R…
