“Radon in Georgia,” the Georgia Radon Education Program Newsletter and Outreach Report for April 1 through June 30, 2020, reports on activities of the Program, which is funded by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Two articles feature activities during that time period. In summary, they are:

Radon Program Goes Virtual to Continue Educating Georgians During Uncertain Times

Due to the COVID pandemic, the Program began online efforts to replace in-person training. It offered online courses to Georgians. The Program has promoted courses through several extension offices and encouraged those from around the state to virtually attend live online webinars.

Partnership with Loganville Lions Club

The Loganville Lions Club wanted to encourage radon testing in Walton County after some members had their homes tested and found elevated radon levels. They wanted to promote radon testing as a community project and purchased 200 kits to sell at local events. Once such event was the Loganville annual car show, where the Radon Program supplied the signs and handout materials and the Lions Club members sold kits and handed out informational literature.
