Two Rivers Public Health Department in Kearney, Nebraska, provides information and videos about radon to inform residents about how to create healthier home environments by lowering radon concentrations. The program operates through a Radon Awareness and Risk Reduction grant. Increase local awareness about the risk of long term exposure to radon and testing and radon reduction methods are objectives of the grant.

In the Two Rivers Public Health Department district, the percentages of houses that test high in the following counties are:

• Buffalo County 56%

• Dawson County 37%

• Franklin County 70%

• Gosper County 51%

• Harlan County 66%

• Kearney County 62%

• Phelps County 62%

The Department provides information on testing, maps and tables with radon data, and lists of licensed mitigators. Additionally, Two Rivers Health Department Director also participated in the Nebraska Radon Resistant New Consstruction Task Force that made recommendations to the Governor and committees of the legislature.
