MDH began licensing radon measurement professionals on January 1, 2019 (428 radon professionals approved to test on September 30, 2020). MDH began licensing radon mitigation professionals on June 1, 2020 (128 mitigation professionals on September 30, 2020).

In the last federal fiscal year, MDH continued to focus on education and compliance assistance. We conducted 22 trainings delivered to 1,188 radon professionals (mostly webinars), and wrote numerous facts sheets, memo and technical resource documents.

MDH received and investigated 36 public complaints and also initiated 55 investigation based on information we collected. MDH staff started regulatory inspections of mitigation systems in the summer of 2020 and 43 mitigation systems were inspected through September. In addition, we completed routine measurement audits of 130 licensees. There were 37 enforcement actions issued.
