The Frame Construction document provided by Montrose County, Colorado, includes a section “General Requirements for Building in Montrose County” that addresses radon resistant construction information.

Radon is an item in the minimum information required for plan check review. The check review requires that the applicant show radon mitigation plans or an approved radon test result of 4 pCi/L (picocuries per liter of Radon gas) or less.

The Frame Construction document has appended the reference document by the EPA, “Radon-Resistant Construction Basics and Techniques;” it also includes the Colorado - EPA Map of Radon Zones. Montrose County is in Zone 1. Zone I counties have a predicted average indoor screening level greater than 4 pCi/L.
