The Ohio Legislature passed legislation with an effective date of September 30, 2021 to designate January as Radon Awareness Month. It specifies that the act is to be known as the Annie Cacciato Act. The Act draws a link between radon and lung cancer and is named in honor of Annie Cacciato, who is believed to have radon-induced lung cancer. She worked with state leaders to raise awareness of radon and create a state-wide awareness month.
