Maine Project to Test All Schools by 2025

“The Maine Department of Education requires schools to be built using radon resistant new construction. The state is continuing a multi-year project of testing all schools by 2025. During this reporting cycle, the state tested more than 15 additional schools.”

Overview of EPA’s State & Tribal Indoor Radon Grants Program: A Focus on Activities Conducted During 2022, published in February 2023, notes this as an accomplishment. (https://www.epa.gov/system/files/documents/2023-02/2022%20Annual%20SIRG%20Activities%20Report.pdf)

Maine adopted “An Act to Authorize Public Schools to Periodically Test for Radon.” See the statute at https://www.mainelegislature.org/legis/statutes/20-a/title20-Asec4013.pdf
