Colorado State University has announced the awards for the 2023 Science and Engineering Fair. Two radon projects by students in Colorado were recipients. The Science Fair honors excellence in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Students from all areas of Colorado create and present their research.
Dolores High School in Dolores, Colorado had a winning entry titled “Radon in Rural Colorado: The Not So Noble Gas.” The project won in the following categories:
· American Industrial Hygiene Association, Rocky Mountain Section Excellence in Protection of Occupational Health and Safety
· Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists Excellence in Earth Sciences Award
· Association for Women Geoscientists AWG Excellence in the Geosciences Award
Sargent Junior High School in Monte Vista had a winning entry titled “What Are You Breathing? Radon Levels in Schools.”
The project won in the following categories:
· American Statistical Association Colorado/Wyoming Chapter David Young Memorial Award
· Colorado Environmental Health Association Environmental Health Award
· Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration, Colorado Section Award for Excellence in Mineral Science & Engineering
