New York State does not certify or license radon testers. However, radon testing firms may be certified by the American Association of Radon Scientists and Technologists (AARST), National Radon Safety Board (NRSB), State of New Jersey (NJ), or State of Pennsylvania (PA).

To assist the public in locating certified testers, the New York State Department of Health provides an online location tool. The companies listed on the website are certified as radon testing firms, meaning that a representative(s) from these businesses have been trained to use the equipment or provide detectors for the testing of radon.

Results are provided by a clickable map that is keyed to counties in New York State. Results provide the name and contact information of the service, along with the counties served.
