The Vermont Department of Health and the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation present interactive maps of long-term residential in-air radon test results from 1994 – 2021.

The map of “Radon in Relation to Geology” shows the bedrock geology of Vermont displayed as the surface and bedrock geology in a popup window. Information about statewide radon tests within that geology combination includes:

· number of homes tested

· percentage of tested homes with elevated radon

· estimated number of homes with elevated radon

· estimated number of untested homes with elevated radon

As an example, the Green Mountain Zone displays as:

· Late Precambrian - Ordovician metamorphosed sedimentary and igneous rocks

· Number of tested residences: 5724

· Percent of tested residences w/ elevated radon: 12.7%

· Number of untested residences: 57829

· Number of untested residences likely to have elevated radon: 7325

The map of “Elevated Radon Results by Town” shows the percentage of tested homes with elevated radon results in each town. The viewer can click on a town to see the exact number and percentage of elevated test results within it.

“Rates of Radon Testing by Town” shows the percentage of homes in each Vermont town that have tested for radon using one of the Health Department’s radon test kits.
