The Maine Division of Environmental and Community Health has a new online portal for Radon Service Provider Registration.
Individuals and companies may renew registrations, update registration information and/or terminate a company registration online. Updates to registration information may include updates to addresses, phone numbers, contact information and service areas, as well as removal of terminated employees.
To log on, a registration number is needed, an access code and an email address for transaction confirmation purposes.
The Maine Radon Registration Act (MRSA section 771 et. seq.) requires that a person or the person’s company providing any radon services (sampling, analysis, mitigating, advising) in Maine be registered. Only two exceptions exist:
1. A homeowner or resident of a structure can test or mitigate that structure; however, if the residence is for sale, this exception is not applicable.
2. Post-mitigation (system verification) testing can be conducted by the homeowner or resident of the structure.
The registration portal and other information regarding service providers can be found at https://www.maine.gov/dhhs/mecdc/environmental-health/rad/radon/hp-radon.htm
