Following many months of stakeholder engagement and processing public input, the EPA’s Indoor Environments Division is excited to announce the release of Version 2 of the Indoor AirPlus home certification program! This significant update brings new and improved features designed to enhance indoor air quality, advancing the EPA’s commitment to help builders deliver homes and apartments that are healthier for the people who live in them.

The Program Documents for Indoor AirPlus Version 2 include:

Enhanced Guidelines: Updated construction specifications informed by the latest building science and public health research.
New Verification Protocols: Streamlined processes to ensure homes meet rigorous standards, from design through verification, to help improve indoor air quality.

Expanded Resources: Additional tools and materials to support builders, verifiers, and homeowners in achieving and maintaining superior indoor air quality.

Tiered Certification: Indoor AirPlus Certified homes are built with key features that improve source control, ventilation, and filtration.

Indoor AirPlus Gold Certified homes are designed to include more advanced indoor air quality protections in conjunction with the energy efficiency benefits of ENERGY STAR certification.

IAP V2 Launch Webinar
To introduce the new IAP Version 2 framework and key features in the specifications, the EPA will be hosting a webinar on September 5, 2024 to explore the updated IAP V2 structure, forthcoming training requirements, the timing for phase-out of Version 1, and how the new version integrates with ENERGY STAR, Zero Energy Ready Homes, and the 45L tax credit.
