The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Radon Program asked the public in 10 counties to participate in Radon Focus Groups. From these Focus Groups, the Radon Program would like to learn what preferences the public has about strategies that would raise radon awareness and health consequences of radon.

The following is the department’s announcement:

MDHHS is seeking your input on radon awareness strategies

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) is looking for feedback on the best strategies to raise awareness of radon and its connection to lung cancer. Homeowners or renters residing in Arenac, Bay, Clare, Gratiot, Isabella, Macomb, Midland, Oakland, Saginaw, or Wayne county, are encouraged to participate in upcoming Radon Awareness Focus Groups.

Participants must be 18 years or older. Anyone interested in joining must register at https://dataentry.ibem-is.org/surveys/?s=7Y99A4HLTJ4L3C8K. However, registration does not guarantee selection to participate in a Focus Group.

Focus Groups were held on:

· September 12, 2024, (Virtual): 12:00-1:30 p.m. on Zoom

· September 18, 2024, (In-Person): 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Gilda’s Club Metro Detroit, Royal Oak

· September 25, 2024, (In-Person): 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Zauel Memorial Library, Saginaw
