Missouri Provides Data in Promoting Lung Cancer Awareness
The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services promotes lung cancer awareness with its website messages:
· “Radon is the number one reason non-smokers get lung cancer.”
· “Protect healthy lungs at home.”
Missouri’s Radon Dashboard provides outreach to the residents so that they may learn more about radon levels in their county. The website has a colorful and interesting display of radon data from 2003-2022. Tests per county per result category are shown in a bar chart and state map. The information can be selected according to radon results:
· Greater than 4 pCi/L
· Between 2 – 4 pCi/L
· Less than 2 pCi/L
Housing unit testing statistics are also provided. The number of housing units tested is 35,330, which represent 1.3% statewide. County results are given as well as the annual number tested.
