The EPA, in its 2024 report on successes in radon programs, noted the Pennsylvania Radon Program for its progress and accomplishments in testing and remediating schools and childcare facilities and its outreach to new parents.
In Pennsylvania, during the 2024 reporting timeframe, 115 schools and daycares were tested and two schools were mitigated for radon. In addition, hospitals participated in a program to provide new families with a copy of the New Parent's Citizens Guide to Radon booklet and a free radon test kit, aiming to ensure more families are aware of and address elevated radon levels.
