The Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) is required by statue to report on license applications for radon services. The Agency’s reporting requirements include publicly announcing and publishing a summary of the statistical information about new and renewal license applications. The reporting period is the preceding calendar year.

In its eighth report, issued for the 2024 calendar year, the IEMA reported 182 applicants for new or renewal licenses and of those, the ones who had criminal convictions there were 2. The number of applications granted were 157. For the report in full, see
https://iemaohs.illinois.gov/content/dam/soi/en/web/iemaohs/nrs/radon/documents/rila-report24.pdf

The statue protects the public from practices that might exploit their concerns about radon but not properly address the problem by requiring licensure by the IEMA of persons who sell devices or perform services including detection, analysis and reduction of radon.
