The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services is continually adding public outreach and education products to its website in the form of new communications.

Recent additions are a public service announcement video and an updated map of radon results.

A new public service announcement radon animated video is being hosted on the Department’s website at https://www.ncdhhs.gov/divisions/health-service-regulation/north-carolina-radon-program The video is available in English and Spanish languages. The video was produced in partnership with Duke Health, Southeast American Indian Cancer Health Partnership, Lung Cancer Initiative and the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.

North Carolina’s Radon Map has been updated as of August 2025. The map shows the highest level of radon test results reported in each county in North Carolina. Data for this map was obtained from two test kit companies (Air Chek and Alpha Energy) and one company that leases continuous monitors. Results are available in map or text version. The text version may be downloaded. A note is added to the map explaining: “Radon data should not be used to predict whether a particular building or site will have elevated radon levels. Radon levels are highly site specific. The only way to know the radon level in a building is to conduct a radon test.” See the map at https://www.ncdhhs.gov/divisions/health-service-regulation/north-carolina-radon-program/nc-radon-da…
