Colorado’s Work with Local Public Health Agencies and Other Non-profit Organizations
By Margaret Horton, MHP
The Colorado Department of Public Health and the Environment (CDPHE) Radon Program conducts local radon outreach through grants awarded to local public health agencies (LPHAs) and other non-profit organizations on an annual basis.
The grants are designed to be flexible and meet local needs. Grant work plans must address one of six radon-related activities, including radon education and awareness for the general public, radon test kit distribution, and/or engagement with school and child care facilities, real estate agents, medical providers and local code officials.
The CDPHE Radon Program hosts monthly grantee calls to address questions, share best practices, and promote coordination among grantees.
