In its report titled "Overview of EPA’s State and Tribal Indoor Radon Grants Program: A Focus on Activities Conducted During Fiscal Year 2025," the EPA State Indoor Radon Grant Program notes successes in Testing and Remediation of Schools and Childcare Facilities.
The Connecticut Department of Public Health Radon Program was highlighted for its success. During the reporting period, more than 240 schools and daycares were tested for radon, and one school with an elevated radon level received a mitigation system.
Public schools in Connecticut who serve grades K - 12 are required to test for radon in air pursuant to Connecticut General Statutes (CGS) § 10-220(d)(2). Other requirements are in place as well.
