BODY{font:10pt Tahoma, Verdana, sans-serif;}A CRC Handbook recently came out in print title Radioactive Air Sampling Methods.  This book has been in the works for something like 20 years, and finally is finished thanks primarily to the efforts of a gentleman named Mark Maiello.  There are two chapters in this book related to radon, one of which deals with radon measurement devices....I did not write this chapter, but I did review it.  The other chapter deals with the behavior of radon and radon decay products.  I wrote that chapter.  My goal was to expand and update the article from years ago written by Robley Evans titled something like "An Engineer's Guide to Radon Daughters."  When I say "expanded," what I mean is that I included thoron (Rn-220) and actinon (Rn-219) and their decay products.  When I say "updated," what I mean is that I showed how to use a recurrence formula to simpify the math.

While the chapter is aimed primarily for Continuous Air Monitos (CAMs) that are used primarily for monitoring around nuclear facilities, some here on this list serve may benefit from the chapter, and perhaps the book as a whole.  However, I have not yet purchased any reprints of the chapter, as they are not cheap.  Also, the book is not cheap.  It is available from Amazon, and perhaps from several other places for over $100.

I mention this because of the thread about thoron today.
