Thank you Calvin! I just checked into this here in Colorado, and it is an
option I wasn't even aware of. There are grants for folks older than 62
that will pay for mitigation and loans for low income families. It's nice
to be able to give folks an alternative in low income situations. Chrys

Our local newspaper ran an article yesterday about Rural Development Home
Repair Loans and Grants.
The article stated that "The Rural Development Repair Loan Program funds can
be used to repair, improve or modernize homes, or to remove health and
safety hazards, according to information from Rural Development. Loans for
up to $20,000 are available at 1 percent interest for a 20 year repayment
term."
My local USDA service office said that radon mitigation would qualify for
the program.
The USDA service office personnel need to be educated and have on hand radon
health risk information. They will not allow company specific information.
However, most states have state specific information that could be displayed
at the offices.
Please contact me directly for a copy of either the newspaper article or
USDA Home Repair Loans & Grants brochure.
