Radon Awareness

Wedco District Healthy Start Consultant gave an informational presentation to 44 child care directors and day care employees This presentation was part of a Health, Safety and Nutrition training that child care workers are required to attend. Participants learned what radon is, waht to do with the test kits, the procedure for mitigation and the dangers for young children if they are consistently exposed to both radon and tobacco smoke. Everyone attending admitted that they knew next to nothing about radon. They have heard about it but had never had any extensive training concerning radon. Each person took a test kit; either for their center or for their home.
