Event Description
NJDEP-Radon Program's Newborn Pilot Program was recognized on former New Jersey Governor Jon Corzine's list of "top 50" environmental accomplishments noted during his term ( January 2006 to December 2009).
The Newborn Pilot Program offers reimbursement of up to $1000 for the purchase of radon test kits for new and expectant parents. Test kits are distributed through partnerships with local and county health departments and county cancer coalitions through various outreach efforts so that newborns can begin their lives in a healthy home environment.
Funding is provided through the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency-SIRG Grant.
